The timeline below, compiled by the Tow Center for Digital Journalism as part of the Platforms and Publishers project, identifies key developments in the relationship between technology platforms and news publishers.

The timeline, which begins in October 2000, is updated at the beginning of each month. We welcome any feedback or suggestions regarding missed developments.
